Plan it before you start, or as you go
Outline acts, chapters and scenes beside the manuscript. A loose map of the month ahead is often the difference between a stalled week two and a steady one.
1 to 30 November 2026
Thirty days to draft the book you keep meaning to write. Aim for 50,000 words, or set a goal that fits your life. Mythwrite keeps the plan, the story bible and the count in one calm place.
45 days free, no card required. Existing users switch it on from the projects page.
The challenge
Many writers use November to finally get a first draft down. The pace is about 1,667 words a day for 50,000 in 30 days. Some people manage it, many do not, and plenty find a smaller goal is the one that actually gets finished. Both are welcome here.
50,000 words between 1 and 30 November. Your card shows the daily target needed to stay on pace, and recalculates if you fall behind or get ahead.
Choose any target from 100 words up: 20,000 for a novella, 10,000 to build a habit. Change it whenever life changes.
How Mythwrite helps
Outline acts, chapters and scenes beside the manuscript. A loose map of the month ahead is often the difference between a stalled week two and a steady one.
Archivum holds your characters, places and lore in one searchable place, so you stop scrolling back to check an eye colour or a surname.
A focused editor with a focus mode, autosave and nothing competing for your attention. The only job is the next sentence.
Your words for the month, today's count, the daily target to stay on pace and your streak, on a card on your projects page. Only words you add after joining count.
Take the draft out as DOCX, Markdown or a re-importable bundle at any point. It is your manuscript, and it leaves with you.

Questions
Joining the challenge costs nothing. New accounts start with a 45-day free trial with no card required. Existing users can switch the challenge on from their projects page.
Words you add to the projects you choose, from the moment you join or from 1 November, whichever is later. Days follow UK time. If you delete text, your total does not go down, and a save that only changes or removes words adds nothing.
Yes. You can write in a project you started earlier, or import a manuscript. The words that are already there do not count, only the new words you add once the challenge is on.
No. 50,000 in 30 days works out at about 1,667 a day, which suits some writers and not others. You can set any goal from 100 words upwards and change it later.
No. Mythwrite November is our own challenge, inspired by the tradition of writing a draft in November. It has no connection to NaNoWriMo or its former organisers.
The challenge closes and your final total stays on your progress card. Your project is untouched, so you can carry on drafting, start revising, or export a copy. If you are on the trial, nothing is charged unless you choose a plan.
